Description

My submission for the CHOW for this week: Shape Shifter. A lot of it was taken from an old creature I did, the Cheshire Hound.

The Kinderwulfe originates in early 1600's Bavarian legend. It is a shape shifter that takes the form of the most gentle of creatures, small children. With its innocent appearance it can lure any victim it desires, dragging its prey into the depths of the forest. Many children are found, torn to shreds or devoured; some are never found and it is thought that the Kinderwulfe serve as hounds for an even more dangerous creature.

The Kinderwulfe in its actual form is a terrifying sight to behold. It's hunched and lanky body is covered in putrid, dead grey skin. Patches of coarse, mangy fur cover its body. Metal bands peel back its maw to reveal razor sharp theeth, giving the creature a hiddeous grin. Few have actually seen the monster in its true form and lived. Survivors are driven mad with fear, screaming about the children with evil eyes and sharp claws coming for them.

It is difficult to tell the difference between a regular child and a Kinderwulfe in its child form. One noticeable difference is the presence of an odd metallic headpiece it wears on its head. Sadly many innocent children have fallen victim to angry villagers, mistaking a pretty hairpiece in a little girl's hair for the sign of a Kinderwulfe.
